The V&A Wedgwood Collection in Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent, traces more than 260 years of Wedgwood’s history in the heart of the Staffordshire Potteries. Founded by Josiah Wedgwood in 1759, the company became known for innovations in ceramics, design and manufacturing. The collection is housed alongside the still-operating Wedgwood factory at the World of Wedgwood site. More than 175,000 objects, documents, photographs and works of art record the company’s development, from Jasperware and the Portland Vase to modern designs. Displays explore Wedgwood’s products, production methods, workers and changing tastes, while the archive contains more than 100,000 manuscripts.
