KarlsruheBaden-Württemberg/Germany
Eight centuries of European art are brought together at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe, one of Germany’s oldest purpose-built art museums. Opened in 1846, its collection grew from the art holdings of the Margraves and Grand Dukes of Baden and now ranges from the late Middle Ages to modern art. Works by artists such as Hans Baldung Grien, Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt, Caspar David Friedrich and Cézanne form part of the collection. The historic main building is currently closed for renovation, with exhibitions continuing across the Orangerie, Junge Kunsthalle and at ZKM.
