The Hof van Nederland is a unique historic site in the heart of Dordrecht. The First Assembly of the Free States took place in this former Augustinian monastery in 1572. During this secret meeting, representatives of the cities of Holland decided to side with William of Orange in the struggle against the Spanish king. Today, it is a modern and interactive museum where you can discover how we in the Netherlands approach freedom, tolerance, and democracy—both then and now.
