The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture in Seattle explores the natural and cultural history of the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Founded in 1899, it is Washington State’s oldest museum and is part of the University of Washington. Its modern building on the university campus brings together natural history, archaeology and Indigenous cultures under one roof. The collections include dinosaur fossils, minerals, plants, animals, archaeological objects and works from Indigenous communities across the Pacific Northwest. Exhibitions connect scientific research with cultural stories, while the museum’s collections and research programmes continue to document the region’s changing landscapes and communities.
